Over the last week or so I have really started to feel a lot better which is great! Especially as it is becoming more and more noticable that the warmer weather is on the way! (For the one week it actually seems to be warm here anyway!) It is pretty much light at 6am now when I get up with my husband for him to go off to work and I have found if I get up at the same time as him and not go back to bed, I have a much more productive day and find myself getting tired at the same time as my hubby so we go to bed at the same time, rather than me be up later.
The main issue is getting your head around the fact that a lot of the illness is beaten by mind over matter. Your mind obviously controls your body in every way possible and so acts on how you feel too. Because you get so used to waking up and feeling ill, you find yourself waking up with negative thoughts because you wake up automatically expecting to feel ill and it can be a downward spiral from there.
Of course, if you wake up feeling physically ill or in pain, that is different.
I have found that the more I am doing in the day the better I feel physically and definitely mentally. As anyone will probably agree across all walks of life, if you have a productive day and a productive week then you automatically feel a lot happier, more fulfilled and it gives you a wonderful feeling of satisfaction. That happiness automatically gives your body a boost making you feel better.
Don't get me wrong, each person is different and I know there are people out there who suffer with ME / CFS a lot more than I probably do but I do believe that positive thinking is a massive step forward in making yourself feel better and once those positve thoughts become second nature, feeling better should too. Not just in my case, but for many people who feel unwell in different ways, it may even work with hangovers!
